My time at Workshop so far

Workshop Marketing Social Media Marketing ApprenticeI was hired by Workshop Marketing a month ago as their Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing Apprentice through The Juice Academy.  Even though I have only been working here for a short period of time, I have really enjoyed every minute of it. The rest of the team made me feel welcome straight away, making me feel more comfortable about starting my new job and confirming that I chose the right path of employment over university.

Another reason I’m enjoying my time here is that I get to do what I love.

For me, I can’t go a day without scrolling through my social media feeds to find out what is going on in the world. I believe social media is a really effective tool to help promote yourself, whether it’s for a company or not, so being able to help market our clients through social media is something I really enjoy doing.

When I started in August I was thrown into work right away. Immediately, one of my main jobs was to look after one of our client’s social media pages, both in terms of tweeting for them and interacting with their followers. It was slightly daunting at first as it was the first time I had represented a company through social media. So I wanted to make sure I was tweeting the right things. After tweeting the first few and seeing the responses I got, it helped to build up my confidence in what I was posting.

After a successful first week, I was given other client’s social media pages to look after too.

Another job role I’ve learnt about and taken on is email marketing. This is something completely new to me and I find it really interesting. In the past three weeks, with a little help, I have sent out a number of emails and reported back on how well they have done. Obviously with this job, hurdles do appear along the way as some of the things I am asked to do I’ve never done before. Despite this, it just means that I work a little harder to understand the work I have been given to do.

In the month I’ve been here, another huge thing (for me) was being asked to create the wireframe for the new website of one of our clients.

For me, this is the job that I wanted and couldn’t be happier that Workshop chose me. There are so many reasons that I like working here, from the office environment to the work I get asked to do. I may have only been working at Workshop for a short while, but to me it feels like I have been here much longer as I’m always kept busy!
